Best Body Ever!

Every spring, after being bundled up all winter, we get excited about the warm sunshine and start thinking about the possibility of removing some of those layers and showing a little skin. Of course, some parts of our body we are more eager to show than others. In fact, if we could help it, there are some parts we would rather keep up under wraps and never let see the light of day. Our winter clothes help us hide those extra pounds or cellulite-affected body parts. With summer fast approaching and our extra pounds weighing on us, we started our new diets and are working harder in the gym but what about our cellulite? Yes cellulite, every female that has gone through puberty has it and it is our biggest concern come bikini season. How do we hide it, get rid of it or bottom line just make it go away?

We turned to the brilliant “cellulite expert” Lynn Banfi of Per Amore in Beverly Hills, CA.  At her body salon, she has successfully battled cellulite for 15 years and helps women to be proud of those body parts that they were previously afraid to show. Per Amore is one of the Official Sponsors of the Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA 2010.  She helps contestants look their best in their bikinis during the competitions and lets them worry about the judge’s questions rather then their body parts.

In her premier center for body shaping, Lynn Banfi customizes the treatments according to your goals, body type, workout regimen and eating habits in order to achieve the best possible results. She uses Dermosonic Vacuum therapy and Smoothshapes Laser to reduce subcutaneous fat, smooth out skin texture and re-contour your body.

We asked her a few questions to help us gain a better understanding of cellulite and how her treatments work.

What is cellulite?

It is fat found in the first layer of our skin, which is structurally different from all the other layers in the skin. Its fat lobes are organized into chambers by surrounding strands of connective tissue giving it the dimpled, orange peel appearance in the hips buttocks and stomach area.

What causes cellulite?

Cellulite doesn’t discriminate; it affects fit and thin women just as much as women who are overweight. It forms due to complex physiological changes to the subcutaneous fat layer and hormonal changes in your body. Other causes are toxic accumulation in the tissues, poor circulation, fluid retention and dehydration.

How do the treatments work?

The Dermosonic treatment closes the gap between the two forces that originally created the dimpled appearance, which temporarily reduces the appearance of cellulite by warming up the skin and improving blood circulation to the area. The Smoothshapes laser helps free up fat and move it to the lymphatic system to be taken away, and stimulates collagen production to tighten the skin.

How long do the results last?

With the first treatment, the results will last only 1-4 days but the effects are cumulative, the more consistent you are with the treatments the longer your body will hold on to the results.

How many treatments do I need?

There are no magic numbers or a formula that works for everyone, but Lynn recommends 10 treatments for an extra boost and fast results in case you need a quick makeover or have a special occasion coming up.  Before starting a treatment, Lynn will conduct a consultation and, depending on your desired results, she will put together a program for you that will be specifically tailored to your body and your needs

How much does it cost?

A series of ten 45-minute treatments are  $ 1,750

A single treatment with consultation is $200

If you have been fighting the good cellulite fight for years and getting nowhere, get your dimples to Lynn ASAP.

  8. I’ll be teaching a creative writing class this summer to a group of 11-14 year-olds. I have experience teaching writing (mostly poetry) to adults, but teaching kids will be new territory. Does anyone have some great tips, websites, resources for exercises, and reading materials for this age group? Thanks!.
