It’s no secret that, like every woman on the planet, I love dressing up and getting myself ready for whatever’s happening next. Whether it’s a job interview or a soiree with the girls, it’s super important for me to get my moment of privacy in order to figure out a proper look for the occasion. Sometimes it takes hours or even days to make the final decision of what to wear, and thats before makeup, shoes, jewelry and bags! It’s an endless story. However, it is possible to make this process more auspicious for ourselves, this is why we have our boudoirs, to reduce the tension and make it more like a fashion play, easy and fun.
Literally, a boudoir means a lady’s private bedroom, sitting room or dressing room. The term derives from the French verb “bouder”, meaning “to be sulky” or “boudeur”, meaning “sulky”. Speaking of France, for royal’s like Marie Antoinette, the boudoir was a social necessity, an essential part of their status and usually the only place they could misbehave. No surprise they wanted it to be as fancy and sophisticated as their behind-the-scenes moments.
Here are some of my fav boudoir ideas.
1 . Very Hollywood!
Greta Garbo, Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh and many more of the old Hollywood actresses would’ve been so jealous if they would have gotten a sneak peak of Christina Aguilera’s boudoir in her Beverly Hills mansion. I suffer in pain myself since I’ve spotted pictures of her closet, toilette table and those sexy little art deco elements that fill her room with color and style. A colorful palette requires a certain courage when mixing moroccan tea tables with Murano chandeliers and Venetian glass. We love it! Two thumbs up for Christina Aguilera not just for having one of the world’s strongest and beyond incredible voices but also for keeping things classy within her individual space. I can imagine her sitting on her strawberry-pink puffy chair, sipping champagne and singing notes off her platinum song “Beautiful”.
Here are some ideas that we spotted from Christina’s bedroom that would help you to recreate the mood:

2. So French!
Another obsession of mine, that might be a replacement for a mirrored dressing table, is a Marie Galante trunk by Agent Provocateur. The leather exterior of the limited edition trunk unfolds to reveal a myriad of black lacquered wood drawers.Agent Provocateurhighly recommends the use of the secret compartments hidden in the top drawer for secrets and love letters. Lovely! www.agentprovocateur.com $ 9000
Fantastic! It better be worth every penny!
3. My Small World!
I decided to include in this little post my own boudoir. Hope you enjoy the vision. FYI all of these pieces are by Massant ( www.massant.com ) and Maison & Demeure,( www.maisonetdemeure.com ) special orders only, price upon request.
I suppose your beloved one would think it’s no big deal getting dressed (obviously, most of the time they prefer us to be undressed). Clearly I disagree, as preparation and process is an important part of revealing your beautiful self. Every second and every feeling counts, because you’re worth it!
