Diet Habits of Skinny Bitches

Some women make staying skinny look effortless.  You see them eat at parties, enjoy lunch with their friends at the hottest restaurants in town or order drinks at happy hour. Yet they are able to throw on a bikini or a tight dress at a moment’s notice.  For them, getting ready to go on vacation doesn’t include sweating off the pounds in the gym or starving themselves to get back to their high school weight.  When you ask them how they do it, they act like that question never crossed their mind and they tell you they are immune to cravings for chocolate or pizza.

I used to find these types of responses annoying until I found out first hand how much willpower it takes to stay skinny all the time and look happy doing it. Food for me has always been a source of pleasure and comfort so the idea of watching what I eat and picking the healthy choices on the menu was never that appealing.

As I got older, staying skinny started getting harder and harder so I decided to come to terms with dieting as way of life and concentrated on its rewards and what it could do for my appearance.  I always remember the quote by Kate Moss, “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels”. Once I got a taste of how skinny feels - like better fitting clothes and plenty of complements from the boyfriend, friends and colleagues, I thought twice about pasta and its momentary pleasure. Of course, I am not suggesting complete deprivation, I’m talking about healthy choices in the name of fashion, beauty and skinny booty.

Here are some tips on how to stay skinny year round:

1. Never finish your food. In fact divide what’s on your plate in half, eat it slowly, take the time to actually taste your food and enjoy the company you are with. Once you finish with the first half, take a sip of your water and assess if you are still hungry for the other half.

2. Eat at home as much as possible. It helps you eat cleaner and control sodium intake because you know what you are putting in your food and it allows you to exercise portion control.

3. Keep snacks such as carrots, almonds or trail mix in your car, in case you don’t have time to sit down and eat.

4. Always eat your protein first and your carbs last. Protein fills you up faster, so by the time you get to the rice or potatoes you feel full and you eat less of them.

5. Eat the same things. Find healthy foods you love and just keep eating them.  You won’t have to count calories or think about where your next meal is coming from.

6. Keep track of what you eat and hold the indulgences for the weekends.
