Art Experience with Yuri Yuroz
Russian-Armenian artist Yuri Gregorian, or Yuri Yuroz, who painted U.N. commissioned Human Rights mural, is donating his time to paint on a white T-shirt (or other article of clothing of your choice). This is an event for children of all ages, adults included! Please stop by the Corzine Fine Art Booth B140 and ask for Yuri. Judging from its growing visibility and the mushrooming of ateliers nationwide, it?s more accurate to say it?s here. Together four knowledgeable insiders will look squarely at what?s happening in this field and make intriguing predictions about what lies ahead. Panelists include: Adrian Gottlieb, artist and atelier director; Michael Pearce, artist and chair of the art department at California Lutheran University; Kate Sammons, artist; Michael Zakian, art historian and director of the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art at Pepperdine University. The panel will be moderated by Peter Trippi, editor of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. Early Experiments: Performance and Feminism in Social Practice Art.A discussion with artist Suzanne Lacy, leading curators and scholars to investigate how early works, including Three Weeks in January, set the stage for the new wave of social art practices of today. Panelists include: artist Suzanne Lacy; Catherine Wood, Tate Modern Curator of Contemporary Art/Performance; and scholar Meiling Cheng, University of Southern California. Moderator: Carol Stakenas, Executive Director of LACE (Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions) 1pm @ Los Angeles Fine Art Show, WEST HALL B. The New Impressionists: The Plein Air Movement.Southern California was the home of America’s first plein air movement, which was started by artists who carried the practice home from France after studying with the impressionists. A new movement has been blossoming across America with thousands of painters working out-of-doors. A panel of experts will explore its rich history and the new movement and its impact on the art world. Panelists include Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum and Artist, Daniel W. Pinkham. Panel will be moderated by Eric Rhoads, Publisher of Fine Art Connoisseur. Sponsored by Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine. 2pm @ LA Art Show, WEST HALL A. Pacific Standard Time: Successes and Opportunities.
